Isobella's to do list
- Find funding for my play Kid Soldiers
- Start college in September
- Find a production team at college to manage Kid Soldiers
- Ring round schools, explain about the project, and try and set up meetings to get schools interested
- Find rehearsal space for Kid Soldiers
- Hold auditions around Hackney and Islington
- Rehearse and perform Kid Soldiers – hopefully at Hackney Empire!
- Try and make Kid Soldiers accessible to as many people as possible by touring it around local secondary schools
- Get more organised!
Isobella's big plan
Posted: 30/06/2008
During the next year I hope to complete the youth project called 'Kid Soldiers'. Over the next few months I need to ring round schools getting feedback of who's interested, hold meetings with the schools who are interested and convince them that sticking a load of kids together with no adult supervision to rehearse a play that involves sex, drugs, violence, the class division and the small subject of war is an extremely good idea and will help to stop school rivalry and show kids that no matter what your start in life anything is possible!
I should probably look into funding before getting the schools involved. This means trying to convince a whole load of different people that the project will be a success. If all goes well I’ll hopefully move onto cast and rehearse the play, eventually performing it.
On top of all this I want to take up jogging and some other forms of exercise in order to prepare my body for college. I also want to start appreciating and supporting my family more.

Hi, really interested in what your doin, Im currently training to become a yooth worker and would love to get involved! Let me know!

Heya Isobella,
I thought I would write to say that I admire your determination to get "Kid Soldiers" written and published. I think with the right support and determination you will go extremely far with your play. I'm a writer myself, but only as a hobby, as I don't have any intention of having it published, but you have made me think differently. I hope you keep the dream alive and keep trying to get the best from it all.
All the best for the future, and keep your dreams alive :)
And if you ever want to talk to another writer, please feel free to let me know!
Wish you the best :)

Hi Isobella, I just wanted to say that whantyou are trying to achieve is a credit to you. I myself had a taste of it a couple of years ago when I watched my first full scale musical take to the stage. It was the end of a massive two year journey which saw many changes along the way, and much sweat and tears (luckily no blood), but the end resukt is a moment I will never forget.
If there is anything I can do to help, even just talking through things let me know as I believe that anyone with a vision should be helped where posssible.
As far as funding I could possibly put you in touch with an organisation which deals with young people and the issues, they are also in the theatre industry and a charity so they could have ideas for you. also they are at The hackney Empire in April so could even possible meet you. Let me know, just email me.
By the way I am probably older than most people on this site but in the theatre 18 and 37 are just numbers, its all about the show.
Regards
Andy

I was really surprised when i watched your story, i dont no many people that would even think about using to community to do a production, that you yourself have written, its amazing. I hope everything turns out as you plan and that you do very well in the future you deserve it. My mum also thinks your a role model forthe younger generation, as you help your mother with finances, young people have alot to learn when it comes to money but you set a brilliant example. Well Done!
